A young prince must overcome his loss of memory to preserve the realm from invasion.
The Stargrass Prince is missing, presumed dead, and his younger brother and heir is trapped in a trance that is disturbing the magical stability of the entire realm.
By the time he awakens, political upheavals threaten his life and the future of everyone he cares about.
The young prince must prove that he didn't murder his brother, send the foreign invaders back over the mountains, and deal with traitorous conspirators at home.
And, most important of all, he must find a way to win the hand of the beautiful and enigmatic Lady Mage.
A fantasy novella.
Ebook available from Amazon.
I love fantasy stories and couldn't wait to create my own world, so I made the Stargrass Realm, a place of meadows, rivers, scary forests and magic. The stakes are high, but the focus is on the characters. I went for humour, with a touch of mystery.
I wrote this story as a novella because that was its natural length. No padding at all, just action, the kind of stories I like to read myself.
The story is a coming of age tale that explores concepts of personal responsibility. And since my protagonist Marram is a prince, he must also develop a philosophy of governing that works with the magic of the realm.
QUOTES
My favourite quotes from the book:
Locked doors are no use against mages.
Mages are not amenable to hierarchies.
Who am I to question the way Things are Done?
It seems I am to save them all. No pressure.
Every soul lost to the Realm was a rift that could never be mended.
The flags hang limply instead of waving bravely. I know how they feel.
I've won. He's talking, not fighting.
